In Revelation 21:2, the Apostle John saw “the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, having been prepared as a bride having been adorned for her husband.”

The New Creation

What did the vision reveal about this heavenly city? In the same chapter of the revelation of Jesus Christ, John wrote, “I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away…” (Revelation 21:1)

What was John speaking about, what was the new heaven and earth? The New Heaven and Earth was a new creation, for new creatures. In 2 Corinthians 5:17, the Apostle Paul wrote, “if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

The teaching of the Apostles was that the New Heaven and Earth was a new relationship between God and Man, through a new covenant. This new creation is not referring to a new Material Creation, but a new spiritual order, where God’s Sons (new creatures) are born into.
