The New Jerusalem – the Bride of Christ, has already descended. Those who are in the Body of Christ, are the Kingdom of Heaven
In Revelation 21:2, the Apostle John saw “the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, having been prepared as a bride having been adorned for her husband.”
The New Creation
What did the vision reveal about this heavenly city? In the same chapter of the revelation of Jesus Christ, John wrote, “I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away…” (Revelation 21:1)
What was John speaking about, what was the new heaven and earth? The New Heaven and Earth was a new creation, for new creatures. In 2 Corinthians 5:17, the Apostle Paul wrote, “if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
The teaching of the Apostles was that the New Heaven and Earth was a new relationship between God and Man, through a new covenant. This new creation is not referring to a new Material Creation, but a new spiritual order, where God’s Sons (new creatures) are born into.
The Bride of Christ is the New Jerusalem
In the vision, an angel told John to come and see “the bride, the wife of the Lamb…” (Revelation 21:9)
But what he sees is “the holy city Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God…” (Revelation 21:10)
From this we can see that the Bride of Christ the Lamb is the holy city, the New Jerusalem.
The Lamb – Jesus Christ, had finally married, (become one with) his betrothed fiancee – the Body of Christ, his new covenant people.
The Bride came forth in 70AD
The bride, the New Jerusalem, comes forth after the father’s wife, Ancient Jerusalem, was finally judged and destroyed. She had for too long been unfaithful, in apostasy and committing abominations.
Earthly Jerusalem – ancient Israel, had been judged as being a harlot, a woman who has broken her marriage covenant. According to that covenant – the Law of Moses, she was to be burnt with fire. Leviticus 21:9 says, “the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profanes her father: she shall be burnt with fire.”
Therefore, when ancient Jerusalem, its temple and people were destroyed by fire in 70AD, that was the time of its judgment and its end.
Revelation 18:8, depicted that judgment – “her plagues will come in one day, death and misery and famine, and she will be burned up with fire, because mighty is the Lord God, the One having judged her.”
It was after this judgment of ancient Jerusalem, that the bride of the Son came forth. This was the Kingdom of Christ, the Kingdom under a new marriage covenant.
Therefore, the New Jerusalem came forth in year 70AD.
God’s People are no longer Israel, but the Kingdom of Heaven
The Apostle Paul wrote that those of Israel who had come into the new covenant had married a new husband, even Christ.
He indicated that “my brothers, you also died to the law through the Body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to Him who was raised from the dead…” (Romans 7:4)
Those who accepted the new covenant were considered as having died to the Law of Moses – the Old Sinai covenant. God had placed them into a new marriage covenant – married to Christ, their new Lord. He had translated them out of Israel and into Body of Christ – the New Jerusalem, the Bride, the Kingdom of Heaven.
This happened 2000 years ago.

The descent of the Kingdom of Heaven to the Earth
“I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of Heaven, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband…” (Revelation 21:2)
The Kingdom of Heaven had descended to earth 2000 years ago as John had seen in the vision. God had assured him that everything in the vision was to “come to pass shortly…” (Revelation 1:1)
The descent of the new kingdom to the earth, simply meant that God had made the Kingdom accessible to those on the earth.
This kingdom was not a physical structure, even though the vision presented it like that in symbolic form.
But we should always remember what Jesus said, “the kingdom of God is within you.” (Luke 17:21)
