Coming in the Clouds of Heaven - Literal or Symbolic?

“And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds…” Mark 13:26

Did Jesus Mean He was Literally Coming Back in Atmospheric Clouds?

The modern church is still looking to see Jesus coming in the clouds in the skies. However, the scripture speaks of unseen realities, which are coded in symbols taken from the natural realm.

Jesus said to Eat His Body and Drink His Blood!

Jesus said, “He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life.” John 6:54
This saying of Jesus offended the Jews and even some of his disciples, because he was clearly speaking a kingdom parable which they heard, but did not understand. They focused on the symbols of the parable and had no idea of the spirit reality that Jesus was speaking of.

I don’t know of a single Christian today who believes that Jesus meant that his followers were to literally eat his flesh and drink his blood.

Yet, when it comes to the Son of Man coming in the clouds, the modern church teaches that this event is totally literal!

The Modern Church is Looking for Jesus to come in a Physical Body in Atmospheric Clouds!

They might as well be eating literal human flesh and drinking human blood!

The Teachings of Christ concerning the Kingdom of Heaven are Parables – i.e. they are symbolic, not literal!

The Kingdom of God exists in the realm of the spirit, however most Christians have a fleshly or natural understanding of the kingdom, and the teachings of Christ.

Jesus said to his disciples, “Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand.” Mark 4:11-12

Notice Jesus said the Kingdom of God is a Mystery, and he explained it in parables or symbols. “The Son of man coming in the clouds” is a parable, it symbolised a coming reality in Bible Times. But for us in the 21st Century, that coming is history, it already happened, and most do not realise it.

The Kingdom of God is a Mystery – It had to be explained in Symbols!

Jesus unequivocally stated that the kingdom of God is a ‘mystery.’ It is a spiritual concept that is foreign to those who are ‘without’, or outside of the spirit realm. Many fail to realize that Jesus taught in parables, and the authors of the Scriptures wrote in parables or signs. Therefore the Scriptures need to be understood in the spirit.

The Modern Church is Looking for the Parable and the Symbol, but the Reality has already happened!

Because the modern church has focused on the parable of the coming of the Son of Man, it has missed the reality of his coming in the spirit. They are looking for the parable or the sign, when the reality has already happened! They see, and not perceive; hear, and not understand.
